The Faculty of Islamic Studies (FIS) has reached a new milestone in its academic journey. The faculty proudly announces the promotion of four of its distinguished scholars—Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, Zezen Zaenal Mutaqin, S.J.D., Haula Noor, Ph.D., and Dr. M. Ilyas Marwal—to the rank of Associate Professor (Lektor Kepala).

These appointments recognize exceptional contributions to research, teaching excellence, and academic leadership. By elevating these scholars, the university underscores its commitment to rewarding scholarly productivity, fostering international engagement, and enhancing service to the academic community. Furthermore, this senior academic rank enables these scholars to provide advanced mentorship, particularly in leading doctoral research and supervising high-level academic projects.

The expertise of the newly appointed Associate Professors reflects the faculty’s diverse intellectual strengths. Dr. Phil. Syafiq Hasyim (whose appointment was effective as of October 2025) is recognized for his work in Contemporary Islamic Law. Zezen Zaenal Mutaqin, S.J.D., brings a deep focus on Law and its intersection with Islamic Jurisprudence, while Haula Noor, Ph.D., advances the study of Political Islam. Additionally, Dr. M. Ilyas Marwal continues to strengthen the faculty’s foundation in Sharia Science.

This major leap in the faculty’s research and teaching capacity further establishes the institution as a global hub for advanced Islamic studies and social research. The entire FIS community extends its warmest congratulations to the four scholars on their well-deserved achievements, which continue to pave the way for a future of even greater scholarly impact.
