Our Vision
The programs are designed to produce experts in Islamic studies who are masters of classical Islamic texts and modern science. The classical approach focuses on examining the richness and diversity of Muslim traditions (thurath), while the modern scientific approach emphasizes empirical research on the social, political, and cultural expressions of Muslim societies.
About Us
Welcome to the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII). As part of the newly-established international university aiming to position itself as one of the leading institutes for higher learning in the Muslim world, the Faculty of Islamic Studies has established a strong foundation since its inauguration in September 2021 by recruiting the best faculty members, developing excellent graduate degree programs, designing innovative research and curriculum, and organizing numerous academic and research activities.
In accordance with the university’s policy, the Faculty of Islamic Studies only offers graduate study programs: MA and PhD. These programs are designed to produce experts in Islamic studies, with a strong grounding in both classical Islamic texts and the scientific academic tradition. Students are encouraged to critically engage with the richness of classical Islamic texts and the diversity of approaches and theories in social sciences and humanities. Based on what they study in our faculty, we expect our graduates will be creative and critical thinkers as well as scholars who can creatively apply their interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary knowledge to deal with changing realities confronting contemporary global society. Our programs are designed to open professional development pathways and intended to serve as a platform for future scholars of Islam and Muslim societies.
