About

Dr. Noor is an Associate Professor of Political Islam at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII), where she also serves as Secretary of the PhD Program. She earned her PhD in 2021 from the Coral Bell School of Asia and Pacific Affairs at the Australian National University. Her doctoral research examined the role of family context in individuals’ decisions to become jihadists. She also holds a BA in Psychology and an MA in Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies, both from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Jakarta.

In addition to her academic work, Dr. Noor collaborates with various research institutions and currently contributes to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) project Strive Juvenile: Preventing and Responding to Violence against Children by Terrorist and Violent Extremist Groups. Her research interests include family and terrorism, family psychology, Islamic studies, and terrorist ideology. Her notable publications include When Parents Involve Their Children in Jihadist Suicide Bombings (2018) and Normative Support for Terrorism: The Attitudes and Beliefs of Immediate Relatives of Jema’ah Islamiyah Members (2011).
