What They Say
Their words is the proof of our journey

I was initially surprised by the combining of Western and Eastern approaches to academia because I did not have any experience discussing and approaching Islam from other perspectives. The way the lecturers supervise us through their innovative teaching has provided me with the opportunity to have a greater understanding of the debates about Islam. All the courses have unique characteristics that are important for my career development. The courses on Digital Islam, Islamic Law, and Research and Methodology have particularly inspired me the most and will significantly shape my dreams in the future.

I chose the Faculty of Islamic Studies for my study because the faculty introduces us to the integration knowledge between classical and modern sciences. It equips its graduates with both classical and contemporary knowledge. This combination will also support my dream job as a professional educator in my home country, Togo, where the Muslim population is only around 15%.
One of the things I have enjoyed most at UIII is the flexibility of doing the courses either in-person or online. During these uncertain times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university permitted us to meet all the academic requirements and social activities in whatever way was most comfortable for us. Depok is a great city; and it has everything you could want. The weather is good and fits every nationality. The people are also so friendly. They like to socialize and chat with everyone regardless of their ethnicity and race.

I dream of being a diplomat one day, so, having unique training in Islam from different conceptual bases and standpoints will enrich me with a proper understanding on how to tackle issues around diplomacy and Islam. This has been a key part of my study at the Faculty of Islamic Studies.
UIII is strategically located near key facilities in Depok, such as the hospital, train station, supermarkets, and other public facilities that can be reached on bicycles provided by the university. So, there is no need to worry about access to various daily necessities.
